Sunshine State safely
moored at Alameda, CA
Project Summary
During the relocation of a dredge's anchor
barge, the assist tug Sunshine State capsized and sunk at the
entrance to the Oakland Estuary, early April 2005. The following day it
was lifted up, re-floated, and towed to the Bay Ship & Yacht shipyard in
Alameda, CA. Argonautics Marine
Engineering was called in by the P&I Club for an independent survey of the
tug, immediately after release of the tug by the Coast Guard.
Scope
of Work
The project scope
included:

Survey tug boat
for potential cause for sinking;

Assess residual value of tug
"as-is-where-is";

Provide a
comprehensive survey report.
