[ Oyster dredge Elusive fully loaded ]

Oyster dredge Elusive fully loaded

Project Summary

Oyster dredge Elusive is a converted LCM-6 landing craft, now used for the harvesting of fresh oysters in Humboldt Bay. Because of past stability concerns, a stability analysis including an Inclining Experiment was conducted and from its results, the lightship weight and its associated vertical center of gravity was determined. Using this data, in combination with a computer model of the hull, various stability scenarios were analyzed and presented.

Scope of Work

The project scope included:

  • Built a hydrostatic computer model of the hull;

  • Conduct an Inclining Experiment;

  • Calculate vessel lightship weight and its vertical center of gravity;

  • Analyze vessel stability and prepare comprehensive report.
