D1-WWIP jacket secured on launch barge Swiber Conquest

Project Summary

In November 2005, the 2,500 t D1-Well Cum Water Injection Platform (D1-WWIP) jacket was launched offshore India in the Mumbai High field. The steel jacket was fabricated in Teluk Ramunia, Malaysia, and was towed to India on the 348 x 100 x 22 ft launch barge Swiber Conquest. All engineering documents related to the jacket launch were reviewed and critical assumptions verified using independent calculations.   

Scope of Work

The project scope included:

• Reviewing all engineering documents and procedures;

• Calculation of the barge hull girder strength during the launch;

• Estimation of maximum barge stern immersion as function of the ballast condition;

• Independent stability analysis for the critical phases of the launch.
